Beyond Diet {my reveiw}

*I am NOT being compensated by BD.
These are my own results and opinions.

I have been doing Beyond Diet (BD) for 4 weeks.  I am down 9 pounds, and feel great!!!  I had seen advertisements for BD on Facebook for a while and was always thinking, "yeah, right", NO calorie counting, NO point counting, blah blah blah.  Until one day I watched the entire video and thought, "maybe this does work".  So I sighed up.

You can watch the video HERE

I didn't have a lot of weight to loose, I had previously gone back to Weight Watchers to get back on track, but after 3 weeks of tracking everything I ate, and gaining .4 the first week and remaining the same weight the next two times, I decided, I didn't have anything to loose. (now, don't get me wrong, WW is a FABULOUS program and I lost 30 pounds 6 years ago and have kept it off, but I think my body needed something different).

I read through the online manual and the Quick Start Guide and thought, "OK this doesn't sound too bad at all".  The hardest part for me was buying FULL FAT greek yogurt and eating avocados (since those were always too high in points for me to justify), and half and half for my coffee (Coffee Mate is full of BAD STUFF PEOPLE ~ SAD, I KNOW).  It was all I could do to eat that full fat food and not be afraid I would need bigger pants.

The first week I lost 4 pounds (what?).  My pants were already fitting better.  The third week I lost 3 more pounds (was my scale broken?  It kept going down.).  After I finished the Beyond Diet 4 week program, I decided that I wanted to kick it up a notch, so I joined the BD Edge program.  This is a 21 day program with an exercise plan included.  Now, I am not a fan of exercising, but once I checked out the program, it didn't seem hard at all.  It takes me about 20 min every other day.  After the first week I was down another 2 pounds, and I feel great!  I am not sure how much more I want to loose, but I am already weighing less than my WW goal weight.

There is no magic, it is clean eating, that is the key to it!!  I never realized that the processed food we eat, turns to fat because our bodies don't know what to do with all the "junk" in the ingredients.  If you don't know what you are eating, you shouldn't eat it, it is that simple.

This is one of my favorite meals:

I get excited to tell people about the program and have had 4 other people I know join (NO, I am not getting any payment for this, I just get excited that people are getting healthy), and have success (one of them is Ashley, and when she went to WW on Saturday to weigh in, she was below her goal weight).  It isn't expensive at all and you get a complimentary subscription for a friend or family member, so if you know someone else that wants to join it is only half price.  (*and it is 100% satisfaction guaranteed, so if you don't like it, you get your $ back).

*You do have to prep ahead (especially if you work outside the home) for meals.  Since you are not eating convenience food items, it is a little more work.  I like to double my dinner recipe, so that Mike and I can take that for lunch the next day, and I prep on the weekend (grill chicken/cut veggies, etc) to make my weekly dinner and lunch process go smoother.

What you get on the program:
Access to the BD website, which includes the online manual (you can purchase a hard copy separately, which I did), meal plans (this is my favorite part), shopping list, metabolism test (plus other tools), tons of recipes, online support/coaching, and so much more.

I know, I sound like an infomercial, but when I find something I like and makes you healthy, I just have to share!!

If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or email me.

why I have been drinking grape juice...

I hate being sick!!
The stomach bug is the worst of the WORST!!  Last year I had a nasty bout with it, I was sick for at least a week.  I remember the week perfectly, because it was the week we got Sophie (not the best time to get a new puppy, but it all worked out).  My husband and daughter hate puking more than anyone I know!!  One day Ashley told me about a blog post she read about how grape juice prevents you from getting the stomach bug, and she immediately jumped on the grape juice bandwagon.  Mike wasn't too far behind, I on the other hand am not really a fan of the taste of grape juice (it is okay in the little cup for church for communion, but a giant glass???).   I was a little skeptical, but the more I Google'd it, the more I found about it.

A few blog posts about it:
HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Some facts about grape juice:
Grapes and grape juice supply many important nutrients, such as vitamin C and potassium and might also have certain health protective benefits. Grape juice might reduce your risk of developing blood clots, help reduce your LDL cholesterol level, prevent damage to the blood vessels around your heart and help maintain a healthy blood pressure. The antioxidants in grapes and grape juice might also help reduce your risk of heart disease and atherosclerosis.

Prevention:
The most effective way to prevent a stomach virus is to wash your hands regularly. Scrub your hands with soap and water after using the restroom or changing a diaper, before eating, after spending time outside and after coming into contact with surfaces that might harbor germs, such as door handles.

If someone in your family has a stomach virus, don't share towels, utensils or dishes. This might help prevent the spread of the germs that cause the virus. Grape juice is a healthy sources of vitamin C. The vitamin C that grape juice contains will help boost your immune system.

Well, over the past few weeks the stomach bug has been going around my office.  It has hit everyone around me.  So I am not sure if drinking grape juice prevents the stomach bug or not, but I am not taking any chances...I am drinking my grape juice EVERY day.  I drink it with dinner, and it isn't so bad (I think I am acquiring a taste for it). So far I have been stomach bug free~and I am pretty HAPPY about that!!

What do you think?
